TRAUMA AND LOSS

Many individuals experience a traumatic event or traumatic loss at some point in their lives and some develop ongoing symptoms, such as intense distress, numbness, upsetting memories that are difficult to dismiss, nightmares, avoidance, irritability, and hypervigilance. 

Dr. Olden is a specialist in treating trauma-related disorders and has extensive research experience investigating trauma-related interventions. She uses evidence-based treatments when working with patients with PTSD, including cognitive behavioral therapy, prolonged exposure therapy, PE-DBT, and virtual reality therapy, and is certified in prolonged imaginal exposure and virtual reality therapy.

Dr. Olden also has extensive experience working with grieving individuals in the aftermath of a loss or when grief persists in problematic ways over time. 

Dr. Olden has worked with survivors of life-threatening illness, sexual assault, muggings, terrorism, burn injuries, accidents, combat, as well as with frontline workers negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. She has worked with journalists, filmmakers, and photographers exposed to trauma in the course of their work. She has also worked with many individuals after a traumatic loss such as the murder or suicide of a loved one.
